Red roses for Valentine's Day, in every size
Red roses and February 14 have been a pair for a very long time, and the reason is simple: nothing else says it as plainly. The real decision is how big, and in what.
Small and neat. Little Red Hatbox sets premium red roses into a round black hat box with a red satin bow, finished with a gold butterfly or a strand of pearls. Ruby Square does something similar in a black box with baby's breath. Both are easy to put on a desk, and nobody has to find a vase.
The classic bouquet. Twenty-five red roses is the sweet spot for most people. Monogram Noir adds a letter in small white blooms across the top, and Snowfall Red wraps them in crisp white paper with a small topper.
The grand gesture. Monarch Night, pictured, is one hundred premium red roses in a round dome with gold filigree butterflies clustered near the top, wrapped in black paper cut into sharp points. It's meant to make an entrance.
Not sure red is right? Our love and romance collection has a rose colour guide, and pink or white can be just as romantic.

When to order Valentine's flowers (and why earlier is better)
Valentine's Day is one of the busiest days of the year for any florist, and the week before it is not much quieter. Red roses are in demand everywhere at once, and the closer you get to the 14th, the fewer choices are left.
Here's how to make it easy on yourself:
- Order a week or two ahead and choose February 14 as the delivery date at checkout. Your order is in, your design is chosen, and you can stop thinking about it.
- Pick a window. Morning means flowers on her desk before lunch. Afternoon suits someone who'll be home later. Anytime is the most flexible for our drivers on a very full day.
- Double-check the address. Unit numbers, suite numbers and company names matter more on a busy day than any other.
- Consider the day before. If she'll be out on the 14th, a delivery on the 13th means the roses have time to open and look their best by the evening itself.
We do our best for last-minute orders, but we can't promise same-day availability on Valentine's Day itself. If a particular stem isn't at its best, we swap it for one of equal or higher value in the same colours. More on how it all works on our delivery page.
Valentine's flowers that aren't a bouquet of red
Some people would rather not get what everyone else in the office is getting. That's fair.
Spelled in Roses, pictured, puts twenty-five red roses into a blush pink box with three compartments that spell out an I, a heart and a U. The lid stands up behind the flowers and carries your own message in gold lettering, so it opens like a card. Tell us the wording when you order.
For softer taste, Blush and Pearls and Rosewater are twenty-five pale pink roses each, one in white wrap and one in layered blush. Claret Tulip mixes twelve deep red roses with ten white tulips and a pearl pin. Heartlight is a heart-shaped rose bouquet with LED lights, which is lovely once the room gets dark.
And Valentine's isn't only for partners. Mothers, best friends and grandmothers count too, and a pink or white bouquet with a funny card is a very good way to tell a friend she matters. If you're keeping an eye on the budget, browse flowers under $100.

What to write on a Valentine's card
You type the message at checkout and it arrives tucked in with the flowers. A few starting points, depending on who's getting them.
- 01
A new relationship
Keep it light and true. "I'm really glad it's you I'm sending these to" says plenty without getting ahead of yourself.
- 02
A long marriage
Name something specific from this year. "Still the best decision I ever made, even when you steal the covers" beats any poem.
- 03
Long distance
Make the gap the point. "These were the closest I could get to you today. Counting down."
- 04
Funny, because that's your thing
"Roses are red, these are too, I panicked and bought a lot of them." If they laugh, it worked.
- 05
Short and certain
Two or three words can carry more than a paragraph. "Always you." "Still mine?" "Yes, still."
- 06
A friend
"Happy Valentine's to the person who answers my 11 pm texts." Friendship deserves flowers too.
- 07
Mom or grandma
"My first Valentine. Still one of my favourites." Expect a phone call.
- 08
How to sign it
Use the name they actually call you. A nickname or an inside joke makes the card unmistakably yours.

When should I order Valentine's Day flowers?
As early as you can, ideally one to two weeks before February 14. Choose the 14th as your delivery date at checkout and pick a morning, afternoon or anytime window. Ordering early gives you the full choice of designs before the busiest days.
Can I get same-day flower delivery on Valentine's Day?
On most days, orders placed by 1 pm can be delivered the same day to most postal codes. February 14 is far busier than usual, so we can't promise same-day availability on Valentine's Day itself. Scheduling your order ahead is the reliable way to go.
How many red roses should I give on Valentine's Day?
A dozen is the classic, 25 is a full and generous bouquet, and 50 or 100 is a showpiece. Choose by how she'll display them as much as by budget: a huge bouquet needs a big vase and a bit of space.
Can I put my own message on the flowers?
Every order includes a card, and you type the message at checkout. Some designs go further: Spelled in Roses carries your message in gold lettering on the lid, and others such as Monogram Noir and Antique Blush include an initial.
Can you deliver Valentine's flowers to her workplace?
Yes. Add the company name and the floor or suite number with the address, and choose the morning window so the flowers arrive early in the day. Double-check the building address, since a missed delivery is much harder to fix on a day this busy.
Will the bouquet look exactly like the photo?
It will match the design, colours and size. Flowers are seasonal, so if a stem isn't at its best on the day, we replace it with one of equal or higher value in the same colours.
