The design
About Initial in Bloom
Fifty deep red roses sit in a tight dome, which gives this 50 roses bouquet real weight. Black textured paper is cut into sharp points around the outside, and a sheer black ruffle edged in silver frames the flowers. Across the top runs a single initial in flowing script, built from tiny pink blooms dotted with pearl beads. In these photos a small matching heart sits beside the letter.
The red and black are dramatic; the pink script softens it into something sweet. It is the bouquet for a proposal where you want their letter in every photo, or a birthday for someone who loves things that are clearly theirs. Valentine's Day and anniversaries suit it too.
One size: 50 roses, $210. Tell us the initial when you order. It is one letter and part of the design, so we need it before we start. We make it by hand in our Oak Ridges studio and send it out as a wrapped bouquet. We can deliver it the same day to most postal codes when the order is in by 1 pm.

Care guide
How to care for Initial in Bloom
Five small habits that add days to any bouquet, then the tips that matter for these flowers.
Into water, fast
Unwrap it and get the stems into water as soon as it arrives. The wrap looks lovely, but stems cannot drink through paper.
A fresh cut
Trim about 2 cm off each stem at an angle with sharp scissors or a knife. A clean, slanted cut gives them more room to drink.
Clean vase, cool water
Fill a clean vase with cool water and stir in the flower food if there is a sachet. Strip any leaves that would sit below the waterline.
Every two days
Change the water and give the stems a small trim. Cloudy water is the quickest way to shorten a bouquet's life.
Choose the spot
Keep it away from direct sun, heaters, drafts and the fruit bowl. Ripening fruit gives off ethylene, a gas that ages flowers faster.
Flower by flower
Roses
Keep every leaf above the waterline. If a head starts to droop, recut the stem and stand it in a few centimetres of warm water for an hour.
For this design
- The pearl-dotted initial and heart sit on the rose heads, so keep the bouquet upright and unwrap it from the bottom to leave them in place.
