The design
About Garden Gate Basket
A wooden slatted basket, filled to overflowing. This flower basket mixes pink and white hydrangea with lilac daisies, pink alstroemeria, carnations and clouds of baby's breath, while snapdragons or stock add height at the back. Pink paper fans up behind the flowers, a sheer pink bow trails off the side, and soft eucalyptus spills over the rim.
We made it with Mother's Day in mind, and for anyone getting back on their feet: the neighbour home after surgery, the sister who has had a rough month. A basket asks nothing of them. There is no vase to hunt for and no paper to unwrap; it arrives ready to sit on a table and look like a garden gate swung open.
One size, $120. The fillers change with what is fresh, so yours may differ a little from the photos, and if a stem is not at its best on the day we swap it for one of equal or higher value in the same colours. We design it by hand in our Oak Ridges studio. Order by 1 pm and it can arrive the same day at most postal codes in Richmond Hill, York Region and Toronto.

Care guide
How to care for Garden Gate Basket
It arrives ready to set down. A minute a day keeps it looking its best.
Find a cool spot
Out of direct sun, away from heaters, drafts and the fruit bowl. Ripening fruit gives off ethylene, which ages flowers faster.
Top it up daily
Arrangements drink more than you would think, especially in the first few days. Check it every day and add cool, clean water.
Lift out what fades
Pull out any stem that wilts so the rest stay looking fresh and the water stays clean.
A second life
When it starts to tire, rescue the best stems: recut them and give them a small vase of their own.
Flower by flower
Hydrangeas
Hydrangeas drink through their petals as well as their stems. If a head wilts, recut it and sink the whole head in cool water for 30 to 60 minutes.
Daisies
Take off any leaves below the waterline and change the water every two days.
Alstroemeria
Strip the leaves that would sit in the water; they yellow long before the flowers do.
Snapdragons
Pinch off the lowest flowers as they fade and the top of the spire keeps opening.
Carnations
Recut just above one of the small joints on the stem, where they drink best.
Baby's breath
It dries beautifully. When the rest of the bouquet is done, hang a few stems upside down somewhere dark and dry for a keepsake.
For this design
- Keep the basket somewhere cool and out of direct sun. When the display has had its moment, the flowers can be lifted out, recut and put in a vase.
A note for pet homes
The hydrangeas, daisies, carnations and baby's breath here can upset cats and dogs if eaten. If they have a pet, say so in your order notes and we will design around it.
Freshness
Made the day it's delivered. Not a day before.

What flowers are in the Garden Gate Basket?
Pink and white hydrangea, lilac daisies, pink alstroemeria, carnations and baby's breath, with snapdragons or stock for height and eucalyptus over the rim. The fillers change with what is fresh, so yours may look a little different from the photos while keeping the same colours and size.
Does it arrive in a basket or a vase?
In a wooden slatted basket, with pink paper fanned up behind the flowers and a sheer pink bow. It arrives ready to sit on a table, so there is nothing to unwrap or arrange. Later on, the flowers can be lifted out, recut and moved into a vase.
Can a get well basket be delivered today?

Can I add a gift message?
Yes, and it is free. Write it on this page or at checkout and we tuck the card in with the flowers. Prices are never included with a delivery.
What if it arrives damaged or the order is wrong?
Contact us within 24 hours of delivery with your order number and clear photos. After a quick review we send a replacement of equal value at no charge, or refund you in full to your original payment method.
Can I return or exchange it?
Fresh flowers are perishable, so we cannot accept returns or exchanges except when the order arrived damaged or was the wrong order. We also cannot refund an order sent to an incorrect address, one the recipient was not available to receive, or one you change your mind about after it has been prepared.
Can I change or cancel my order?
Yes, free of charge until we start preparing it. Call (437) 291-5605 or email support@larisflorist.com as early as you can, especially for same-day orders. Once the flowers have been prepared or delivered, the order cannot be cancelled or refunded.
