Why send an arrangement instead of a bouquet
A bouquet asks a little of the person who receives it: find a vase, unwrap, trim, fill with water. Most people enjoy that. Some people, on some days, really do not have it in them.
A vase arrangement skips all of it. It arrives in water and goes straight down on the table, which is why we steer people toward arrangements for new parents, someone recovering at home, a colleague at a packed desk or anyone you suspect owns exactly one vase and it is in the basement.
Parlour Posy, pictured, is a good example of the style. It is a loose, garden-style mix of fresh flowers and glossy greenery in a pearly white vase. The one in the photo leans pink, with alstroemeria, daisy mums, bright carnations and small pink berries, plus a couple of white snapdragons standing tall at the back. If any stem is not at its best on the day, we swap it for one of equal or higher value in the same colours, so the look and size stay the same.

Flower arrangements for the office
Office flowers have a hard life. They sit under bright lights, near a heat vent, on a desk with no room to spare. Size matters more than you would think, so think about where the vase will actually go.
Mauve Pedestal is the compact one: mauve-pink roses with fern and broad green leaves in a glossy white pedestal vase, small enough for a side table or a desk. For a reception counter or a lobby, a taller piece like Island Flame makes more of an impression from across the room.
When you order, put these in the delivery notes:
- the company name and the recipient's full name
- the floor and suite number
- a contact person at reception, with a phone number
- the hours someone is there to receive it
If your company wants flowers more regularly, for an office, a reception or client gifts, have a look at our corporate flowers.
Sending flowers to a hospital
An arrangement is usually the better choice for a hospital, since patient rooms rarely have a spare vase and nurses are busy enough. But check with the ward before you order. Intensive care units, and some other wards, often do not allow fresh flowers at all, and rules can differ from one floor to the next in the same building.
A few things help the flowers reach the right bed:
- the patient's full name as the hospital has it
- the ward or unit, and the room number if you know it
- your phone number, in case the delivery needs a quick question answered
Keep scent in mind too. Shared rooms are small, and a strongly perfumed flower can be a lot for the person in the next bed. Mixed garden flowers and roses are a gentle choice.
If the person is going home soon, it can be nicer to send the flowers there instead, where they can enjoy them for the full week. Our get well flowers include more ideas for someone who is recovering.
Sympathy flowers for a family home
When someone has lost a person they love, their home fills up quickly: food, visitors, phone calls. A wrapped bouquet means one more job. An arrangement in a vase can be set on a side table and simply left there, which is a small kindness in a week like that.
Soft colours tend to sit best in a home after a loss. Whites, creams and gentle pinks feel calm without looking stark. Keep the card short and warm. "Thinking of you all" is enough, and it beats straining for something clever.
Our sympathy flowers collection has more designs chosen with this in mind. If you need a larger piece for a funeral, get in touch or call us and we can talk it through.

Island Flame, pictured, is the bold one in this collection: a tall arrangement in a square glass vase lined with leaf, with red roses on one side and tropical flowers rising behind them. In this one, that means red ginger, orange beaked blooms and anthuriums in pink and coral, finished with curled tropical leaves, a puff of baby's breath and a red ribbon.

Keeping a vase arrangement fresh
- 01
Top up every day
Arrangements drink faster than people expect, especially in a warm room. Add cool water daily so the stems never sit dry.
- 02
Refresh the water
Every two or three days, lift the flowers out, rinse the vase, refill it and trim a little off the stems before putting them back.
- 03
Edit as you go
Pull out anything that has finished. The rest will look fresher, and the water stays cleaner.
- 04
Mind the spot
Keep the vase away from heat vents, sunny windowsills and the fruit bowl. All three shorten a flower's life.
- 05
Turn it now and then
Flowers lean toward the light. A quarter turn every day or two keeps the shape even.

Questions people ask
Something else? Call (437) 291-5605 or send us a message.
Do your flower arrangements arrive in water?
Yes. Vase arrangements are designed in the vase and arrive in water, ready to set down. There is nothing to unwrap or trim. Just top up the water each day to keep them fresh.
Do you deliver flower arrangements in Markham?
Yes. Markham is close to our Richmond Hill studio. Order by 1 pm for same-day delivery to most postal codes, or pick a future date. The delivery fee is based on distance and starts at $12.
Can I send a flower arrangement to a hospital?
Usually, but check with the ward first. Intensive care units and some other wards often do not allow fresh flowers. Include the patient's full name, the ward and room number if you know it, and your phone number.
What's the difference between a bouquet and a flower arrangement?
A bouquet is hand-tied and wrapped, ready to go into the recipient's own vase. An arrangement is designed into its vase and arrives in water, so it can be set down straight away. Arrangements suit offices, hospitals and busy homes.
How long does a vase arrangement last?
Most look good for about a week if the water is topped up daily and the arrangement is kept away from heat and direct sun. Roses and carnations often last well. Removing faded stems helps the rest go longer.
Can you make a larger arrangement for a funeral?
Larger sympathy pieces can be discussed with us directly. Call (437) 291-5605 or use the contact page, and tell us the date, the setting and the colours you have in mind.
