The design
About White Vigil
Calm and quietly formal, this sympathy basket is built entirely in white. White roses, lilies and white chrysanthemums sit in a white wicker basket with carnations, baby's breath and plenty of greenery. Tall palm leaves fan out at the back, giving it height and a shape that reads well from across a room.
We make it for funerals and sympathy, when you want to tell a family you are thinking of them and words are hard to find. White is traditionally the colour of peace and respect, and keeping everything in one colour lets the arrangement feel still rather than busy. Each one is customised and designed by hand in our Oak Ridges studio from that day's flowers.
White Vigil is $145 and arrives ready to display in its wicker basket, with your message tucked in among the flowers. Please be aware that lilies are toxic to cats. If it is going to a home with a cat, a line in the order notes is enough, and we'll design around it. We deliver across Richmond Hill, York Region and Toronto seven days a week.
- White roses, lilies and chrysanthemums

- Tall palm leaves
- Large, all-white design
White flowers are traditionally chosen for sympathy because they speak of peace, respect and remembrance. White lilies are often linked with the restored innocence of the soul, and in many parts of the world chrysanthemums are a long-standing flower of mourning.

Care guide
How to care for White Vigil
It arrives ready to set down. A minute a day keeps it looking its best.
Find a cool spot
Out of direct sun, away from heaters, drafts and the fruit bowl. Ripening fruit gives off ethylene, which ages flowers faster.
Top it up daily
Arrangements drink more than you would think, especially in the first few days. Check it every day and add cool, clean water.
Lift out what fades
Pull out any stem that wilts so the rest stay looking fresh and the water stays clean.
A second life
When it starts to tire, rescue the best stems: recut them and give them a small vase of their own.
Flower by flower
Roses
Keep every leaf above the waterline. If a head starts to droop, recut the stem and stand it in a few centimetres of warm water for an hour.
Lilies
Pull off the orange pollen tips as each flower opens, with a tissue, to save petals and tablecloths from stains. Snip faded blooms so the buds keep coming.
Chrysanthemums
Take off every leaf below the waterline and change the water every couple of days; they will happily outlast the rest.
Carnations
Recut just above one of the small joints on the stem, where they drink best.
Baby's breath
It dries beautifully. When the rest of the bouquet is done, hang a few stems upside down somewhere dark and dry for a keepsake.
For this design
- Keep the basket somewhere cool and out of direct sun, and well out of reach of any cat, since lilies are toxic to cats. Once the service or the first days have passed, the flowers can be lifted out, recut and put in a vase.
A note for pet homes
Lilies are highly toxic to cats, including the pollen and the vase water, so keep this one well away from them. The chrysanthemums, carnations and baby's breath can also upset cats and dogs if eaten. If they have a pet, say so in your order notes and we will design around it.
Freshness
Made the day it's delivered. Not a day before.

Full details in our returns and refunds policy.
Is White Vigil suitable for a funeral service?
Yes. It is a large, all-white arrangement in a wicker basket, with tall palm leaves at the back that give it height, so it reads clearly from across a room. It suits a funeral, a celebration of life or a sympathy gift sent to the family's home.
Can I include a message with the sympathy basket?
Yes. Add a gift message at checkout and we tuck it in with the flowers. A few simple words are enough, such as your name and that you are thinking of them.
Are the lilies in White Vigil a concern for pets?
Lilies are toxic to cats, so it is worth knowing if the family has one. Mention it in the order notes and we will design around it, keeping the arrangement calm, white and the same size.
Can White Vigil be delivered the same day?
In most cases, yes. Order by 1 pm for same-day delivery to most postal codes in Richmond Hill, York Region and Toronto, choosing an anytime, morning or afternoon window. You can also pick a future date to suit the service.
What if it arrives damaged or the order is wrong?
Contact us within 24 hours of delivery with your order number and clear photos. After a quick review we send a replacement of equal value at no charge, or refund you in full to your original payment method.
Can I return or exchange it?
Fresh flowers are perishable, so we cannot accept returns or exchanges except when the order arrived damaged or was the wrong order. We also cannot refund an order sent to an incorrect address, one the recipient was not available to receive, or one you change your mind about after it has been prepared.
Can I change or cancel my order?
Yes, free of charge until we start preparing it. Call (437) 291-5605 or email support@larisflorist.com as early as you can, especially for same-day orders. Once the flowers have been prepared or delivered, the order cannot be cancelled or refunded.
