About Mortarboard Box
Graduation flowers with a sense of humour. Red roses mixed with filler flowers fill a round black box, and a little graduation cap with a tassel sits on top at an angle, the way caps tend to end up once the formal photos are done. In the one pictured the filler is white daisies and baby's breath, which keep it bright against the dark box.
It is a neat gift for graduation day: easy to hand over after the ceremony and nice to have in the photos. Good for the grad who has been living on coffee and deadlines and deserves something that is not another textbook, from a parent, a grandparent or the sibling who is secretly proud.
There is one size, at $80. The box arrives ready to set down, so no vase is needed. We make it by hand in our Oak Ridges studio from that day's flowers, and if a stem is not at its best we use one of equal or higher value in the same colours. Order by 1 pm for same-day delivery to most postal codes, or pick the graduation date at checkout.

- Round black box
- Mini graduation cap and tassel
Red roses traditionally say admiration and respect as well as love, which is why they have long been a graduation favourite. White daisies are often linked with fresh starts, a fair fit for someone about to begin the next thing.

Care guide
How to care for Mortarboard Box
It arrives ready to set down. A minute a day keeps it looking its best.
Find a cool spot
Out of direct sun, away from heaters, drafts and the fruit bowl. Ripening fruit gives off ethylene, which ages flowers faster.
Top it up daily
Arrangements drink more than you would think, especially in the first few days. Check it every day and add cool, clean water.
Lift out what fades
Pull out any stem that wilts so the rest stay looking fresh and the water stays clean.
A second life
When it starts to tire, rescue the best stems: recut them and give them a small vase of their own.
Flower by flower
Roses
Keep every leaf above the waterline. If a head starts to droop, recut the stem and stand it in a few centimetres of warm water for an hour.
Daisies
Take off any leaves below the waterline and change the water every two days.
Baby's breath
It dries beautifully. When the rest of the bouquet is done, hang a few stems upside down somewhere dark and dry for a keepsake.
For this design
- Keep the box somewhere cool and out of direct sun. The cap and tassel are decorative and can be kept as a souvenir, and when the display has had its moment, the roses can be lifted out, recut and put in a vase.
A note for pet homes
The daisies and baby's breath here can upset cats and dogs if eaten. If they have a pet, say so in your order notes and we will design around it.
Freshness
Made the day it's delivered. Not a day before.
